Five places to visit in and around Datça

datça otelleri

Datça is one of Turkey’s most gorgeous swimming destinations. This location offers beautiful scenery, and you can swim practically anywhere. This amazing place, where you can view the most gorgeous shades of blue, benefits from an abundance of bays. Those who claim that “the sea is always gorgeous” in Datça are not exaggerating. This lovely place deserves to be noticed for its blueness. Here are some of the places you should see in Datça, which has a beautiful sea, lush forests, and tranquil bays:

Kumluk Beach

The first place is Kumluk, one of Datça’s most popular locations and the region’s sole sandy beach in the centre of Datça. In the evening, tables and chairs are set out, and there are umbrellas and sun loungers available during the day. Lamps hung from trees glisten on blue and white tables. Eating dinner with your feet in the sand, surrounded by the sound of little crashing waves on the coast, is a relaxing experience. You should visit at least one evening while in Datça. It’s an excellent idea to make a reservation because it’s a popular spot.

Port of Datça

The centre of Datça, one of Muğla’s most prominent tourist spots, has the atmosphere of a normal town. There are stores for every necessity as well as restaurants with regional tastes. When it comes to the port area, we can say that it is the most vibrant part of Datça. It is especially excellent for late-arriving guests looking for fun. Begin with a delightful meal at one of the port’s restaurants. Don’t miss out on the famed goat’s milk ice cream while strolling along the coast. If you visit Datça during the day, you should surely include Kangotan House on your list.

Knidos Ancient City

Knidos, located at the tip of the Reşadiye Peninsula, where the Aegean and Mediterranean meet, provides a spectacular outlook. The city, located on Cape Tekir, is ideal for watching the sunset against a magnificent background. The history of the ancient Carian settlement goes back to the 4th century BC. The ancient city boasts remnants of arched roads, an amphitheatre, and columns. It would be wonderful to come close to the evening hours and see this location beforehand. You may wish to come prepared with a small picnic and a drink here. One of the untouched coves awaits you as you walk the small path close to the renowned hill that overlooks the view.

Deveboynu Lighthouse is well-known for its scenic beauty. It provides a breath-taking overlook. If you wish to visit the lighthouse, which is 104 meters above sea level, you need to wear suitably tight shoes. It is a 45-minute walk from Knidos Ancient City. Given the challenges of the route, the moment you walk out, Datça’s stunning sea is beneath your feet in all its purity. You might need a light for the downhill trail if you plan to finish the day here. Don’t forget to bring a flashlight with you to help you navigate the way back.

Streets of Old Datça

Located only three kilometres from the pier in Datça’s centre, you can walk there in half an hour. Beautiful stone houses, cafés, and Datça’s boutique hotels with their distinct texture unexpectedly appear in Old Datça. Can Yücel Street and Can Yücel’s home are both located here. During the day, the streets of Old Datça are rather calm, and the stone streets are easy to navigate. However, the streets do get crowded in the evening. As the sun sets, the preparations are finished, and these streets come alive immediately. Jazz music tunes might be heard nicely rising from the places. You may finish the day with a nice dinner or a drink here. The streets of old Datça are among the places you should see.

Beautiful Bays of Datça

Datça has about 50 coves and bends, and this is one of the locations that highlight the diversity of the Aegean coast and bays. You will come across really gorgeous bays where you will wonder and take a rest when visiting various locations in the region or when you set off with your car. Mesudiye, located 20 kilometres from Datça’s centre, is a unique corner with its small villages and bends. The most well-known are Hayıtbükü and Ovabükü, both of which are located here. Enjoy swimming in clear, cool waters away from the crowds, in untouched locations that make you feel as if you are the only one there.

Aside from that, there are several hidden gems that are inaccessible by car. Going on a “blue cruise” and taking a boat trip is a far more enjoyable way to explore these coves, which do not have a highway connection. You may leave yourself to the calm waters in the corners of Datça, which is noted for its blue cruises, and return totally refreshed from a peaceful holiday.

The shores of bays with varying structures can be pebbly at times. We suggest that you remember to pack your water shoes.
