Lesser-Known Places in Bodrum for a Peaceful Getaway

bodrum gezilecek yerler

Bodrum is a point that distinguishes itself from Mugla province with its unique texture and is also home to many beautiful bays and beaches of the Aegean shores. This wonderful town, which brings together thousands of shades of green and blue, is one of the first places that come to mind for a summer holiday. Its lively and colourful nightlife is another thing that makes Bodrum such popular, but Bodrum can push this socializing opportunity into the background with its natural assets. In addition to all these, here are the places where you need to turn your route for an amazing holiday by experiencing the magnificent nature of Bodrum, which generously opens its spectacular bays for vacationists who seek serenity…

Karaada

You’re in a secluded place, located right across the Bodrum Harbour: Karaada (Black Island). Contrary to its name, this is a peaceful paradise where blue and green are united. One of the frequent destination for daily boat trips, this beautiful island also features a cave with a thermal water source. The sulphurous water coming out of this cave is thought to be good for the skin. According to a common rumour, the key of Cleopatra’s beauty was the mud and hot water here. Despite being popular among the visitors with this feature, Karaada has managed to be remained pristine. Thanks to the fact that it has numerous rich bays and beaches, it offers many spots for those who want to be in touch with nature and Poyraz Bay is one of them. The water here is so clear that it is a pleasure to swim by seeing the sand at the bottom of the sea. The island is also very suitable for diving in general. Karaada is the place you seek for a peaceful rest, with its mystical atmosphere brought by historical traces.

Aspat Bay

Located between Akyarlar region and Ortakent Yahsi, this peaceful bay is a place that can be calm even during the summer season. If you come here by driving, the Bodrum – Karaincir road will take you to this wonderful Aegean bay more easily. Compared to other bays in general, Aspat has a warmer sea. While swimming in the clearest waters of the peninsula, you may see creatures accompanying you underwater. There is also an unusual option for sunbathing: a lawn. After the turquoise sea, it’s possible to enjoy the green while sunbathing here. The effect of the “yellow summer”, which is the autumn weather unique to Bodrum, is something else here in Aspat Bay, which has endless beauties. The steady humidity level is the reason why Aspat is preferred in this season as well. You can turn your back to Aspat Mountain, the best source for oxygen in the region adorned with historical ruins and enjoy a peaceful holiday in Aspat Bay.

Boğaziçi Village

Located on the north side of Guvercinlik, Bogazici is a cute fishing town. It has made a room for itself without spoiling the ruins of the ancient city of Bargylia, which hosted civilizations such as Hellen and Rome and today it has a small population that does not exceed 2000. At the entrance of the village, which salutes the visitors with the text of the Ancient City of Bargylia, the first thing that attracts the attention is the cute flamingos. Surrounded by the sea, the village gives the Aegean Sea the sense of a lake at this point. On the coastline, which cannot be deemed long, there is a small beach after passing the port where the fishing boats are located. The relatively shallow sea is sandy and very clean. Coming across the village market set up on Sundays is a great opportunity to taste the organic products produced in the region. Bogazici Village is definitely a destination that you should add to your list for a peaceful holiday away from the crowds.

Koyunbaba

Located 4 km to Gumusluk, Koyunbaba is one of the most pristine places in Bodrum. An enormous option for a secluded holiday, the bay stands out with its tall eucalyptus trees. When there is no wind, the clear sea has a more beautiful clarity. Bodrum’s most famous ancient stone quarry, which remained from the Myndos civilization, is also located here. The Ancient Stone Quarry has been hosting the International Gumusluk Classical Music Festival, which has been held for many years. With its mystical atmosphere that combines its deep-rooted history with music culture, Koyunbaba offers a decent holiday opportunity to those who prefer this place.

Aquarium Bay

Aquarium Bay is also known as Adabogazi. The sea here has a visuality that pushes the limits of reality. The water, which impresses with its immaculate clarity, is so bright and clear that you can feel the perfection of the sea. Thanks to its look smooth as glass, the name Aquarium is also mentioned very often. While you could only access Adabogazi with boats before, now there is land transportation thanks to the road built from Bitez in 2015. In Aquarium Bay, which has managed to preserve its serenity despite this and lives up to its name, it will be a unique experience to swim in the water that can be seen up to 20 meters deep.

Fener Beach

We saved one of the most beautiful spots for the last: Fener (Lighthouse) Beach. It’s a nice place located in the southwest of the peninsula, 20 km away from the centre of Bodrum. At the end of the coast, there is Huseyin Burnu Lighthouse with its white beauty that gives the beach its name. One of the most natural and largest beaches in Bodrum, Fener Beach has an untouched beauty. If you are interested in water sports and sailing, you should note that the wind here is especially suitable for windsurfing. Those who want to stay mostly prefer bungalows here. While having a peaceful holiday at Fener Beach, you will feel purified from everything accompanied by the Aegean breezes.
