Vacation places where you can meet with nature within the reach of Istanbul

Istanbul, one of the most beautiful cities in the world, is a city that always draws attention and is hightly sought after as a place to live. Although it is appealing because of its history, culture, vibrant life, and natural beauty, there are other things, such as the city’s high population, crowding, and traffic, which may want to make you escape from Istanbul for a short time; recreational areas where you can commune with nature and breathe deeply of the purer air. We have compiled a list of holiday places surrounding Istanbul where you can get in touch with nature without having to travel too far.

Ağva

The town, which has a Black Sea shoreline and is located in Şile, is one of the points connected to Istanbul but is located far from the city centre. It is located between the Göksu and Yeşilçay rivers, and the waters of these rivers reach the Black Sea via Ağva. Ağva, in addition to its beautiful surroundings, features a natural beach which is three kilometres long. Because weekdays are calmer, you may explore its unspoilt coves and islets at length. Ağva is pleasantly cool even during the summer months because of the newly oxygenated air flowing from the nearby forest. In the nearby restaurants, we encourage you to sample the regional dishes which are influenced by Black Sea cuisine. You may also consider this place a romantic holiday alternative for Valentine’s Day, February 14, or other special occasions.

There are several places to visit around Ağva. When visiting Ağva, you should visit Kadırga Bay, a beautiful cove with peaceful hideaways in which you can enjoy the solitude. The quietest areas are accessible via a tough walking route. You should surely visit Ağva because of its natural beauty and clean water.

You may also stop by nearby Hacıllı Village while in Ağva, to visit the waterfalls and caves that make up the village’s natural beauty. Kilimli and Kaleköy should also be considered as other options. Ağva, which is great to explore in all seasons, is one of the most beautiful spots to relax and rest.

You can check out hotels near Ağva where you can stay for a short-term relaxing holiday.

Riva

Riva, only one hour from Istanbul’s centre, is a great destination if you wish to get away from the city. Between Anadolu Feneri and Şile, there is a historic Greek village whose origins may be traced back as far as to Roman times. Although the castle’s interior has deteriorated over time, it nevertheless shows traces of this era. Riva is a place where you may come and relax after work on weekdays, both in summer and winter. It is more peaceful than other Istanbul getaway points due to its long, wide beach, clear sea, and golden-like sands.

Kilyos Uzunya Bay

Uzunya Bay, one of Demirciköy’s most beautiful beaches, is a place where you may rest on a beach of the same name. The beach, which lies right next to the limpid sea, is divided into sandy and grassy areas, both of which are ideal for sunbathing. There are places where you may set up camp to take in the breath-taking scenery or put up a caravan for a longer stay. There are restaurants in and around Uzunya where you can enjoy fresh seafood at any time of year. Kilyos and its surroundings, one of Istanbul’s most attractive sun, sea, and sand addresses, are ideal for spending time alone with nature.

Polonezköy

Polonezköy is one of the best destinations close to Istanbul for a weekend getaway, so near that is possible to get here more easily if you leave early in the morning. As you pass further along through the pine tree-lined roads, a sense of tranquillity begins to settle in. Delicious breakfasts are another reason to come here in the morning. You may start your day with a wonderful breakfast at one of the stunning breakfast spots. You may even taste the famous Turkish speciality called sucuk (beef sausage) if you like. In Polonezköy Nature Park, you may go on lengthy nature hikes while breathing deeply in the forest air. The options do not end there, though. At the village’s entrance, a historic church awaits you. For souvenirs or gifts, you should consider the purchase of chestnut honey after visiting the Beekeeping Museum, which you come across in the Polonezköy village square.

The hotels around Polonezköy await you with their peaceful atmosphere for a short break from the crowds and stress.

Aydos Hill

Aydos Hill, Istanbul’s highest hill, rises 537 meters above sea level. It is named for the Aydos Castle, which is located inside the borders of the Aydos Forest. You will also encounter a lake of the same name in this area located at a point between the districts of Pendik, Kartal, Sancaktepe, and Sultanbeyli. In Aydos Forest, there is a beautiful track where you may go for a nature walk. One of the most peaceful areas here is the lake, commonly known as Aydos Pond. Picnics and fishing are two of the activities available here. With its calm atmosphere, Aydos is one of the most attractive areas in Istanbul.
