akdeniz plajları

The shining sun, the deep blue sea, and the golden yellow sands… Even the dream is beautiful, we know. We would like to remind you that there are only a few months a year to live this dream. It is almost summer! Our first goal for this summer is to discover the most beautiful beaches and bays of the Turkish Mediterranean. How about you accompany us on this journey of discovery?

We have already researched the most beautiful bays and best beaches of the Mediterranean. Let us immerse ourselves in the cool waters and the energy of the summer season! Even as we write about these corners of paradise in different cities on the Mediterranean, we feel ourselves getting restless and asking the question, “When can we swim in the Mediterranean?” So, without wasting any time, let’s list the best beaches and bays of the Mediterranean. The Mediterranean summer season opens as early as May for impatient holidaymakers!

Kleopatra Beach, Alanya/Antalya

When it comes to Mediterranean beaches, of course, our first destination is Antalya! There is a beach in Antalya that attracts the attention of the whole world with its deep blue waters. It is likely that, you have not have the opportunity to swim in a place with such beautiful scenery. This beach fascinated even the last Hellenistic Queen of Ancient Egypt, Cleopatra, and became a sea where she stopped to swim in every southern Mediterranean expedition she took. That is why the beach has been called Cleopatra Beach since ancient times.

Cleopatra Beach is one of the Blue Flag beaches of Antalya that impresses with its golden sands and turquoise sea. It resembles a natural pool in because of its shallow and calm waters. Despite its history and beauty, the entrance to the beach is free! However, you must pay for sunbeds and umbrellas. There are also many hotel options to stay in around Cleopatra Beach!

Kaputaş Beach, Kalkan/Antalya

We can now move towards Kaş, the most famous district of Antalya! With its clean air, quaint streets, and friendly people, Kaş and its surrounding areas are pleasant places to spend summer vacations. Kaputaş Beach in Kalkan makes you want to dive into the water as soon as you see it. The still and deep blue sea along with the soft sandy beach offers holidaymakers a pleasant experience.

Although it is well known, Kaputaş Beach is a bit hidden. Compared to other beaches in Kaş, Kaputaş Beach manages to maintain its tranquillity. If you decide to swim and relax at Kaputaş Beach this summer, there will be a small detail that we should mention in advance; you need to be able to descend nearly 200 steps and climb them on your return trip. However, let us remind you that at the end of those steps, a beauty that you have only dreamed of is waiting for you.

Patara Beach, Kaş/Antalya

Patara Beach is one of the longest sandy beaches in the Mediterranean, at a length of 18 kilometres. It is known that this long sandy beach was used for desert scenes in Yeşilçam films in the past. Patara Beach is popular for horseback riding tours showcasing its made for the movies beauty.

If you want, you can have a unique summer holiday experience by trotting on the sand dunes with organized horseback riding tours. The sea at Patara Beach is just as magnificent as the beach! The shallow twinkling in all shades of blue sea is also suitable for water sports. So, you can see why Patara Beach is one of the best alternatives for a full summer beach experience!

Tisan Beach, Silifke/Mersin

How about continuing your adventure on a Mediterranean island? Tisan Island, which is part of the Silifke district of Mersin, makes it possible to have a spectacular holiday with its clear, deep blue, and warm water. Tisan Beach is one of Mersin’s Blue Flag beaches. It floods with visitors because it is the most popular spot on the island. After enjoying the warm water and warm sand throughout the day, you can have a delicious meal at one of the restaurants and cafes on the island. Afterwards you can take a short walk in the pine forests.

Getting to Tisan Island is much easier than you think! You can reach the island via the Mersin-Antalya highway or by public transport from Silifke. It is possible to make your journey by sea with boat trips departing from nearby Taşucu. The beach is covered with fine sand and is suitable for sunbathing. However, the long beach is also the habitat of loggerhead sea turtles. If you wish, you can come during the nesting period of the endangered sea turtles and see in person something out of a nature documentary.
