kemer antalya seyahat

It is very exciting to discover a beautiful natural destination that also bears witness to history! Even though Kemer is a popular tourist destination, it provides new experiences to its guests with every visit due to its natural beauty that feels untouched. If you’re ready for an exciting trip, buckle up, we’re hitting the road!

Are you ready to start planning your trip to Kemer, Antalya? If your travel days are limited and you need to use your time efficiently, read on. The region’s rich selection of both natural beauty and historical heritage is surrounded by blue flag beaches. As you will see, Kemer, one of the popular spots in Antalya, has many novel places to visit. We have done the work for you and prepared this list of places that you may have previously missed in Kemer!

Göynük Canyon
We start our suggestions with this precious gift from nature. Göynük Canyon is located near the historic Lycian Way and the natural glory of the Taurus Mountains. Here you can spend pleasant hours taking quiet nature walks as well as participate in adrenaline spiking activities such as rafting and ziplining. You should also try swimming in one of the natural pools that you will find as you hike through the canyon!

The Ancient City of Phaselis
Our Kemer travel guide is in full swing! Next up is a special suggestion. The Ancient City of Phaselis is located in a large area that includes an open-air museum, city ruins, tombs carved into rocks, and an underground cave.
If you have decided to add Phaselis to your schedule, you should spend time in nearby Phaselis Bay. Swimming in this beautiful bay is especially pleasurable in the early morning hours. The bay gets a little crowded by noon due to frequent tour boats.

Yanartaş, Çıralı
Next up is the eternal fire of Olympus! We begin with the legend of the famous Yanartaş (flaming stone). There is a popular story that Heracles, the son of Zeus, first lit the Olympic torch here. This region was researched by historians and scientists for many years.
It is believed that these well-known flaming rocks have not been extinguished for years. You can reach the recreation area by vehicle, but to reach the flames, you will need to climb a one kilometre path uphill which may be challenging for some. If you want to visit the area, which is especially remarkable in the evening, don’t forget to take a strong light source with you for your climb!

The Ancient City of Idyros
Our travel guide continues with variety befitting such a rich destination as Kemer! Located only two kilometres from the district centre, the ancient city of Idyros is located between the Ayışığı Parkı (Moonlight Park) and the fisherman’s shelter. The ancient city, which emerged during excavations in 1976, is home to very special mosaics, ruins and crumbling walls, and coins belonging to the Byzantine period. Excavation work continues through today. Church and chapel ruins have also been unearthed near this ancient port city.

Maden Bay (Atbükü)
When it comes to bays to visit in Kemer, we had to make some difficult choices. After much hardship we have decided that Maden Bay (also known as Atbükü) is not to be missed for travellers seeking out calm places. The bay was named from the chrome that was mined here, as you explore the area you are sure to find ruins pertaining to that history.
Mining activities in the region have long since ended and this corner of paradise now welcomes its visitors with restoring calmness. There may be tour boats and travellers from time-to-time but Atbükü Bay is generally peaceful compared to other bays in the area. When you come do not forget that there are no businesses nearby, you will go directly into nature so prepare accordingly.

Mount Tahtalı
We are here with another fascinating and majestic suggestion that you. Mount Tahtalı, also known as Lycian Olympus, is known for its many endemic plant species. Its mountain borders contain the western branch of the Lycian Way located between Kemer and Fethiye. There is a cable car that takes you up to the peak which rises 2,365 meters high. The two cable cars with panoramic cabins can service up to 80 people. If you have the opportunity, we highly recommend taking your cable car ride at sunset for a one-of-a-kind view of the mountains and the Mediterranean below.

Paris II Shipwreck
We end our list with a suggestion that is unique to Kemer. Antalya is known worldwide for underwater diving and is one of the most preferred places in Türkiye. The French ship-which sank in 1917-is called Paris II and its wreck is popular with underwater divers.
Discovered in 1995, the shipwreck and the rich marine population of the Mediterranean offers a unique experience for its guests. Six anti-aircraft guns and two torpedo tubes can be seen on top of the wreck which sits thirty-three meters below sea level. Of course, you’ll need to be certified and dive with a professional guide.
